The Google search engine logo features a distinctive font.

Google has undergone a few tweaks to its brand since 1997, here’s the original Google logo below (complete with ‘!’) when they renamed the company from ‘BackRub’. Interesting that Google has become synonymous with undertaking an internet search (“just google it…”) in a similar way that Hoover has with vacuuming (“just hoovered the floor”) even if using a different brand of vacuum cleaner. Can’t seem to imagine anyone suggesting to “backrub something on the internet…”

and here’s the font used to create the latest logo:

The font used is Catull Regular, the lower case letters are baseline shifted a few points upwards to create the positioning of the initial cap ‘G’. The actual logo has been given a 3D bevel and emboss layer and a drop shadow.
